Crash sends vehicle into lower-level bay; police report driver fled before being located nearby

A vehicle crashed through the exterior of the Topgolf facility at Chisholm Creek in north Oklahoma City late Wednesday night, coming to rest inside one of the venue’s lower-level hitting bays. Oklahoma City police said the driver left the scene on foot but was later found at a nearby restaurant and taken into custody.

Police said the crash happened at about 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, at the Topgolf near the Kilpatrick Turnpike and Pawnee Drive. A photo from the scene showed shattered glass and visible damage to the bay area where the vehicle entered the building.

Charges include DUI, leaving the scene, and a controlled-substance allegation

Investigators arrested the suspect on allegations including driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, leaving the scene of a crash, obstructing officers, and driving without a valid license. Police reported the only injury was to the driver, who suffered a cut to an arm. No other injuries were reported.

The suspect was located at Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, a restaurant in the same Chisholm Creek area. Police did not publicly release additional details on what led officers to the suspect’s location or the precise timeline between the crash and the arrest.

Facility operations continue as damage assessment begins

Despite the visible damage to the building’s bay area, Topgolf remained open Thursday. The Oklahoma City venue—located at 13313 Pawnee Drive—has operated in the metro since 2015 and is designed with multiple levels of climate-controlled hitting bays, making it a high-traffic entertainment destination in the area.

In incidents where vehicles enter occupied commercial spaces, investigators typically work to document how the collision occurred, determine whether impairment played a role, and assess whether any building components were compromised. In this case, police indicated the crash involved a lower bay, and there were no reports of patrons being struck or trapped.

What police typically document in DUI-and-property crashes

  • The driver’s condition and any chemical testing associated with an impairment investigation
  • Whether the driver remained at the scene and complied with officers
  • Damage to the structure and the vehicle, including points of entry and debris patterns
  • Any surveillance video, witness statements, and the presence of bystanders at risk
  • Potential additional violations tied to licensing, insurance, or outstanding warrants

Police said the driver was found a short distance from the crash site and arrested on multiple allegations, including DUI and leaving the scene.

The case remains under investigation. Any formal criminal counts and their final wording would be determined through the court process following the arrest.
