Expand Energy plans mid-2026 headquarters move from Oklahoma City to Houston amid CEO transition

Relocation targets executive leadership while keeping Oklahoma City as an operations center
Expand Energy Corporation announced plans to relocate its corporate headquarters from Oklahoma City to the Houston area in mid-2026, shifting the company’s executive leadership team while maintaining a continuing footprint in Oklahoma City. The company said Oklahoma City will remain a center of excellence for business and operations and that it intends to continue supporting employees and the local community during the transition.
The move aligns with Expand Energy’s stated strategy of strengthening ties with industry and commercial partners and positioning leadership closer to major energy and trading hubs. The company said it already has an existing office in Spring, Texas, in the greater Houston area, which will become the corporate headquarters location.
Leadership change announced alongside headquarters decision
The company also disclosed a leadership transition effective immediately. Board Chairman Michael Wichterich was appointed interim president and chief executive officer, succeeding Domenic (Nick) J. Dell’Osso Jr. Dell’Osso stepped down from the board and is expected to serve as an external advisor for a period to support continuity.
Expand Energy’s board said it has begun a search for a permanent chief executive with the assistance of an independent recruitment firm. The company also noted Wichterich previously served as interim CEO in 2021 and has led a separate private exploration and production company focused on the Permian Basin.
Company reaffirmed previously issued 2025 outlook; next results set for mid-February
In conjunction with the announcement, Expand Energy reaffirmed its synergy, capital and operating outlook for the fourth quarter and full year 2025, consistent with guidance provided in its third-quarter 2025 earnings materials. The company said it plans to report fourth-quarter and full-year 2025 results after market close on Feb. 17, 2026, followed by a conference call scheduled for the morning of Feb. 18, 2026, when it expects to discuss 2026 outlook as well.
Why Houston: proximity to markets and partners
In its announcement, the company framed the relocation as part of a broader commercialization strategy tied to natural gas markets and infrastructure. Houston is a major center for U.S. energy finance, trading and corporate operations, and it sits near Gulf Coast infrastructure that supports domestic demand and liquefied natural gas export activity. Expand Energy described the move as a way to strengthen relationships with commercial and industry partners and to support long-term growth objectives.
- Headquarters relocation planned for mid-2026
- Primary shift expected to focus on executive leadership
- Oklahoma City to remain a key operations and business hub
- Interim CEO appointed; permanent CEO search underway
The company said the move is intended to connect its scale more directly with growing markets, while maintaining major operations in Oklahoma City.
Expand Energy is a publicly traded natural gas-focused producer and has positioned itself as one of the largest producers in North America. The company’s mid-2026 timeline indicates months of planning and execution remain, including potential organizational and logistical changes associated with shifting corporate headquarters functions while keeping substantial operations in Oklahoma.
