A single day of violence across several neighborhoods

Baltimore recorded multiple fatal shootings on a Sunday that stretched from West Baltimore to South Baltimore and into the Greektown and Highlandtown area, leaving several people dead and at least one other person wounded. City officials said the incidents unfolded in separate locations over many hours, underscoring how quickly violence can touch different parts of the city in the span of one day.

Timeline of the shootings

The first reported homicide occurred shortly before 12:30 a.m. after a gunfire-detection alert led officers to Poplar Grove Street in West Baltimore, where a man was found shot and killed.

Later in the day, around 5:30 p.m., two men were shot at a Royal Farms on Potee Street in South Baltimore. One man was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, identified as a 28-year-old man, died the following day.

Less than an hour after the South Baltimore shooting, another man was shot multiple times and killed near the edge of Greektown and Highlandtown. The area around Eastern Avenue still showed signs of the response the next day, with medical equipment visible along the sidewalk.

  • West Baltimore: one man killed near Poplar Grove Street shortly before 12:30 a.m.
  • South Baltimore: two men shot near Potee Street around 5:30 p.m.; one died at the scene and one died Monday
  • Greektown/Highlandtown edge: one man shot multiple times and killed less than an hour later

Officials cite longer-term trends while addressing immediate harm

Mayor Brandon Scott said citywide violence indicators showed declines at the time, including a reported 19% reduction in homicides and a 40% reduction in nonfatal shootings. At the same time, he emphasized that each loss of life remains significant and said he planned to meet with Baltimore Police Department leadership in response to the day’s incidents.

“One life is one too many,” the mayor said while discussing the Sunday shootings and the city’s ongoing violence-reduction efforts.

Community concerns and investigation

Residents and workers near the Greektown-area shooting described ongoing concern about safety, particularly during evening hours, even as broader citywide statistics point to improvement. Police continued to seek information about the shootings and asked anyone with details to contact investigators or provide tips through the city’s crime-stoppers program.

The separate locations and timing of the shootings indicate investigators were working multiple scenes and lines of inquiry. As of the latest publicly available updates tied to these incidents, no additional suspect or motive information was released in the initial summaries of the cases.
