Public Meeting Notices

The City of Oklahoma City has several updates regarding public meetings scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Residents are encouraged to stay informed on local governance through the following notices:

  • Mayor's Committee on Disability Concerns: This committee will hold its regular meeting today, March 11, from 9:00 AM to 9:55 AM. The session is being hosted at the Central Maintenance Facility Training Center, located at 3738 SW 15th St, Bldg. 3.
  • Prequalification Review Board: The board is scheduled to convene today, March 11, to review contractor qualifications and ongoing municipal projects.
  • Building and Fire Code Board of Appeals: Please note that the meeting originally scheduled for today, March 11, at 1:30 PM in the City Council Chamber has been officially canceled.

Health and Community Wellness

In a major public health initiative, the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City and the American Heart Association have officially launched a collaborative effort to combat high hypertension rates in the metro area. Starting today, 16 validated self-measured blood pressure (SMBP) stations are active across Greater Oklahoma City YMCA branches. These stations provide residents with free access to blood-pressure monitoring resources and heart-health education materials. According to recent data, approximately 36.1% of Oklahoma City adults report having hypertension, making these community-based resources vital for early prevention.

Weather Advisory: Tornado and Flood Watch

Public safety officials advise residents to remain weather-aware. Following a series of intense storms on Tuesday, a weather watch remains in effect for Oklahoma City through Wednesday, March 11. Potential hazards include heavy rain, large hail, and the risk of flash flooding. Residents should ensure their emergency alert systems are active and have a plan for seeking shelter if severe warnings are issued during the day.

Traffic and Infrastructure Alerts

Ongoing MAPS 4 and ODOT projects continue to impact travel times across the city. Please plan for the following active closures and restrictions:

  • I-44 at N.W. 10th St.: The east and westbound off-ramps remain closed for an extensive bridge project. These closures are expected to persist through summer 2026.
  • I-40 in Midwest City: Expect lane narrowing and intermittent ramp closures near Douglas Blvd. and Garth Brooks Blvd. for resurfacing and bridge maintenance.
  • Downtown Street Closures: One eastbound lane on Sheridan Avenue (from Ron Norick Blvd. to South E.K. Gaylord Blvd.) and one westbound lane on Reno Avenue (from South E.K. Gaylord Blvd. to Robinson Ave.) are currently restricted due to electrical work and arena construction.
  • Bulky Trash Schedule: As of March 1, approximately 64,000 customers have shifted to a new bulky waste collection schedule. Residents are urged to verify their updated collection dates via the city's official online portal.
