Traffic and Utility Advisories
- NW 23rd Street Water Main Repair: A significant water main break reported on February 7 continues to impact traffic today. Westbound lanes on NW 23rd Street between Harvey Avenue and Hudson Avenue remain closed for repairs. Motorists traveling west are advised to seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
- Downtown Arena Construction: Utility work related to the new downtown arena has resulted in the closure of North Broadway Avenue from West Sheridan to West Main Street. This closure is expected to persist through February 28. Detours are clearly marked, and businesses in the area remain accessible via South Broadway.
- I-44 and I-35 Maintenance: Ongoing corridor widening and bridge work will cause intermittent lane reductions on I-44 between SW 44th Street and I-240 through the spring. Drivers should also expect single-lane traffic on southbound I-35 between SE 15th and SE 44th today between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Community Programs and Deadlines
The Oklahoma City Historic Preservation Commission is currently accepting nominations for its new architectural heritage awards program. Residents have until March 2, 2026, to submit projects that celebrate the city's architectural history. Furthermore, the Utilities Department reminds residents that significant changes to the bulky waste collection schedule will take effect on March 1. While current routes remain active for the month of February, residents in the central corridor are encouraged to review the updated service routes online to prepare for the transition.
