Official Public Notice: City Council Sessions and Transit Service Updates

City Council and Committee Meetings
The City of Oklahoma City has scheduled multiple official public meetings for Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Residents are encouraged to participate in the local legislative process by attending these sessions at City Hall, located at 200 N Walker Avenue. The primary City Council Meeting will convene at 8:30 a.m. in the City Council Chamber on the third floor. Following the morning session, the City Council Audit Committee will hold a Special Meeting at 2:00 p.m. in the City Council Executive Conference Room. Additionally, the Oklahoma City Riverfront Redevelopment Authority is slated to meet on this date to discuss ongoing development projects along the city's waterways.
Transit Alert: Streetcar Service Interruption
Officials have announced that the temporary suspension of the Oklahoma City Streetcar service has been extended through Thursday, February 26, 2026. This interruption is necessary to facilitate critical electrical work associated with the construction of the new Oklahoma City Arena. To assist commuters, EMBARK is providing bus shuttle services along the Downtown Loop, with buses arriving approximately every 25 minutes during regular operating hours. Please note that the Bricktown Loop remains closed during this period. Commuters are advised to allow for extra travel time as real-time tracking for the shuttle buses is currently unavailable.
Public Service: Operation Fresh Start
The Oklahoma City Municipal Court has launched "Operation Fresh Start," a warrant-clearing initiative active this week. This program provides individuals with outstanding warrants for traffic violations or criminal misdemeanors an opportunity to resolve their legal matters at a discounted rate without the risk of arrest. A joint warrant-clearing event with the Oklahoma County District Court is also scheduled for Friday, February 27, at the Garden Oaks Community Center from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Health Advisory: Norovirus Seasonal Peak
Local health authorities are reminding residents to exercise increased hygiene precautions as Oklahoma remains in the peak season for norovirus. Due to the highly contagious nature of the virus, which causes severe gastrointestinal distress, health officials emphasize that alcohol-based hand sanitizers are often ineffective. The public is urged to wash hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before food preparation and after being in public spaces.
Upcoming Trash Collection Changes
Residents are notified that significant changes to the bulky trash collection schedule will take effect on March 1, 2026. These changes will impact approximately 64,000 customers. Residents should check the interactive map at the official city website to verify their new assigned collection dates.
