Official Notice: Upcoming Mayoral Election on February 10

The City of Oklahoma City reminds all residents that a mayoral election is scheduled for Tuesday, February 10, 2026. All registered voters within the Oklahoma City limits are eligible to participate. Polling locations will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Citizens are encouraged to verify their polling location via the Oklahoma State Election Board website or by reviewing their voter identification card. Early voting options and absentee ballot drop-off deadlines are currently active; please consult the County Election Board for specific site hours this weekend.

Traffic Advisory: Major Corridor Maintenance and Lane Reductions

Public Works and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) have several active projects impacting travel across the metro area this Saturday, February 7. Motorists should anticipate delays and consider alternate routes for the following ongoing projects:

  • N.E. 23rd Street: Traffic is currently narrowed to one lane in each direction between N. Lee Avenue and N. Harvey Avenue. This restriction is expected to remain in place through mid-February for infrastructure improvements.
  • I-44 and S.W. 74th Street: Corridor widening continues, with the eastbound I-44 on-ramps closed and the main highway narrowed to a single lane at S.W. 74th Street through the end of the month.
  • I-240 Interchange: Ongoing multi-phase improvements at the I-35 interchange have reduced I-240 to two narrow lanes with no shoulders. Frontage roads between Eastern Avenue and Crossroads Boulevard remain closed to through traffic.
  • N.E. 23rd Street & Broadway: Streetscape enhancements in partnership with the City have intermittently reduced lanes between Broadway and Western Avenue; these restrictions are slated to continue through the summer season.

Public Health Update: Healthcare Coverage and Opioid Abatement

The Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) has announced new medical coverage guidelines effective as of February 1, 2026. Prior authorization is no longer required for low-dose CT lung scans, allowing for one screening per calendar year for eligible members. Additionally, coverage has expanded for transcervical ablation treatments for women aged 18-60. On the local level, the City has recently secured a Mobile Integrated Healthcare grant. This funding supports two new staff positions and the distribution of Narcan kits as part of the city’s expanded opioid abatement and community outreach strategy.

Community Announcements and Awards

The Oklahoma City Historic Preservation Commission is currently seeking nominations for its 2026 awards program. This initiative recognizes projects that contribute to the preservation of the city's architectural heritage. Nominations are being accepted through March 2. Furthermore, the LA28 local ticket draw remains open for Oklahoma City residents. Eligible locals can register through mid-March for early access to tickets for the upcoming Olympic softball and canoe slalom events hosted in the city.
