City Council and Public Meetings

The Oklahoma City Council is scheduled to convene for its regular meeting on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. The meeting will be held in the City Council Chamber located on the third floor of City Hall at 200 N Walker Ave. While the meeting remains on the official calendar, residents are encouraged to monitor the city’s official communication channels for any last-minute changes due to inclement weather conditions. Conversely, the OKC Riverfront Redevelopment Authority meeting previously scheduled for the same day has been officially canceled.

Sanitation and Utilities Update

Due to anticipated poor road conditions and the risk of icy residential streets, the Oklahoma City Utilities Department has officially moved all trash and recycling collection originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 27, to Saturday, January 31. This adjustment is intended to ensure the safety of collection drivers and the public by avoiding slick neighborhood roads. Residents are asked to keep vehicles off the street where possible to assist crews once service resumes. Additionally, customers scheduled for bulky waste collection this week should place their items at the curb as usual; crews will begin pickups as soon as weather conditions allow.

Municipal Court Cancellation

Presiding Judge Donald O. Kiffin has announced the cancellation of all Oklahoma City Municipal Court sessions for Tuesday, January 27. The decision was made following reports of potential icy street conditions throughout the metropolitan area. All cases affected by this closure will be continued automatically without the assessment of a continuance fee. Impacted individuals will receive notice of their new court dates by mail.

Parks and Recreation Facility Closures

OKC Parks has issued a facilities update for Tuesday, January 27. While all outdoor parks remain open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., several indoor facilities will be closed to the public:

  • Community centers, performing arts centers, and gyms are closed.
  • The five municipal golf courses are closed for play, though select on-site restaurants may remain open for lunch service.
  • Martin Park Nature Center is closed per its regular operating schedule.
  • The Willa D. Johnson Recreation Center, Will Rogers Senior Center, and the Will Rogers Gardens Exhibition Center and grounds will remain open during regular hours.

Street Safety and Federal Grant Award

In a major public service announcement, the City of Oklahoma City confirmed it has been awarded a $25 million federal grant through the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program. These funds will be used to advance the city’s "Vision Zero" goals, specifically targeting safety improvements on major corridors such as NW 23rd Street, NW 10th Street, and S Pennsylvania Avenue. Planned upgrades include new traffic signals, enhanced pavement markings, and the expansion of the Alternative Speed Abatement Program.
