Official City Meeting: Transportation and Parking Authority

The Central Oklahoma Transportation and Parking Authority (COTPA) is scheduled to meet today, Friday, March 6, 2026. The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the City Council Chamber, located on the third floor of City Hall at 200 N Walker Ave. Residents interested in public transit developments, parking management, and regional transportation initiatives are encouraged to attend or view the agenda through the city’s official portal.

Major Traffic Advisories and Roadwork

Oklahoma City drivers should plan for several significant ongoing construction projects impacting travel times this week:

  • I-240 and I-35 Interchange: Interstate 240 remains narrowed to two lanes at the I-35 junction. This multi-phase improvement project includes narrow lanes and a lack of shoulders. S.E. 74th St. and the I-240 Service Road also remain closed to through traffic between Eastern Ave. and Crossroads Blvd.
  • I-44 at NW 10th Street: The east and westbound I-44 off-ramps to NW 10th St. are currently closed for a bridge replacement project. These closures are expected to persist through the summer of 2026.
  • NE 23rd Street Streetscape: Travelers on NE 23rd St. will encounter lane narrowing between Broadway Ave. and Western Ave. as part of a city partnership for streetscape improvements.
  • I-40 Striping Operations: West of the metro near El Reno, I-40 is narrowed to a single lane in both directions near the US-281 Spur for ongoing striping operations expected to conclude by the end of March.

Sanitation Services: Bulky Trash Schedule Changes

As of March 1, 2026, the City of Oklahoma City has implemented a new bulky trash collection schedule affecting approximately 64,000 customers. This change is designed to optimize collection routes and improve service reliability. Residents are advised to verify their new collection dates by using the interactive map at the official utilities website or by reviewing the notification postcards mailed to impacted households earlier this year.

Health Care and Public Service Deadlines

The Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) has noted that today, March 6, 2026, marks the final day for the current run of the SFY2026 third-quarter enhanced payments for vocational and day services, as well as the Nursing Facility Pay for Performance updates. Providers are encouraged to ensure all documentation is finalized within the SoonerCare system.
